TRAUMA INFORMED CARE

Heal your body & your mind.

If you are not speaking it you are storing it, and that gets heavy.

We focus on how trauma may have somatically impacted your life. A somatic focus in mental health involves directing attention and awareness toward the body's sensations and physical experiences as a means of addressing and improving mental well-being. This approach recognizes the interconnectedness of the mind and body, emphasizing the importance of understanding and addressing bodily sensations and reactions to promote mental health.

You’re tired of feeling caught in this cycle:

  • Stuck in a cycle of rumination or negative thinking

  • Physical symptoms such as tension, pain, fatigue, headaches, disassociation, easily distracted, changes in appetite, mood swings, etc.

  • Sleep disturbances, digestive issues, and nervous system dysregulation.

how We can help

Be gentle with yourself. Healing isn’t a perfect process.

What is EMDR?

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a therapeutic technique developed to assist individuals in processing and managing distressing memories. The process involves several phases, starting with a history-taking session and treatment planning. The individual is then guided through recalling distressing memories while undergoing bilateral stimulation, often achieved through guided eye movements or other sensory input. This bilateral stimulation is believed to facilitate the brain's adaptive processing, helping individuals reprocess traumatic memories in a way that reduces their emotional charge.

Throughout the treatment, positive beliefs and emotions are emphasized to replace negative associations with the traumatic memory. EMDR sessions are structured and progress through different stages, including preparation, assessment, desensitization, installation of positive beliefs, body scan, closure, and reevaluation in subsequent sessions.

Research supports the efficacy of EMDR in treating trauma-related conditions, particularly post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Our team of trained professionals administer EMDR, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for individuals undergoing the therapy. Its success in helping individuals process and integrate traumatic experiences has made it a valuable approach in trauma-focused psychotherapy.
